  • Wednesday 20 May 2020 Letter from the Council about the safe re-opening of schools Birmingham City Council have written a letter explaining they support schools making decisions about when it is safe to begin to begin to bring students back to school. You can read it here.
  • Monday 18 May 2020 Video Messages from Heads of Key Stage Mrs Farzand, Ms Porter and Mr Shah have all recorded video messages for students in their key stages showing their part of the school and sharing how empty the corridors feel without our students. Click here to watch.

  • Thursday 14 May 2020 Coronavirus Update: Letter from Ms Hyare Ms Hyare wrote to parents and carers yesterday to share a number of important updates. You can click here to download that letter if you didn't receive the text message with the link.
  • Wednesday 13 May 2020 Live online lesson pilot We are piloting live online lessons with a small number of classes next week. This letter is being sent out to those families where their daughter is in one of the groups. Letters are going out in the post tonight and we will also publish details of which groups are in the pilot here by the end of the week.
  • Monday 11 May 2020 Parent's copy of information sent to Y13 We have sent an email to students in Year 13. We thought that parents/carers would like to see the information sent. You can do this by clicking here.
  • Tuesday 5 May 2020 COVID-19 - resources for parents and carers Mrs Farzand would like to draw your attention to a range of useful websites and information to help parents and children at this time.
  • Wednesday 29 April 2020 Any concerns about Home Learning? We expect that our students will be working on 2 subjects per day and 1 daily PE activity from next week. The timetable of subjects for home learning is available here. If parents/carers want to discuss the work set or report any issues with it, click here for details of who to contact.
  • Friday 24 April 2020 SEND Information & COVID19 The duty of care at BGGS towards our students still continues and if you require any support or advice in relation to your daughter’s SEND needs, you can click here for further information about how this will be delivered.
  • Thursday 16 April 2020 Important letter from Ms Hyare about lots of things Ms Hyare has written to students and their families with a range of important information about Free School Meals, Summer 2020 grades for GCSE, AS and A Levels, Safeguarding, Support for young people’s emotional and mental health and how to contact her if you have concerns about anything during the closure period.

  • Tuesday 14 April 2020 BGGS staff speak out about meal voucher delays Families of students entitled to free school meals have had to wait for the £15 supermarket promised by the Government. We have complained to the Department for Education and have tried to get things moving faster. Mr Clements-Wheeler, our Director of Support Services has even been quoted in two national newspapers about the unacceptable delay.

We are building a gallery of all the fabulous art, ideas and imaginative ways that we are living now.
  • Thursday 2 April 2020 Free school Meals Update The Government free school meals scheme has now started. It is being administered by schools. We will send out vouchers codes for this scheme on Friday 3rd April but we need your email address to do that. If your daughter is entitled to free school meals, you must complete a simple online form. Details here.
  • Thursday 2 April 2020 Teachers won't set lots of work during Easter After the turmoil and disruption of the last few weeks, we think that our students, their families and our staff need a break. Teachers don't have to set work according to the home learning timetable. They will just set whatever would be normal for the Easter break. Click here for more.

  • Friday 27 March 2020 Firefly and Email Troubleshooting Guide If you are experiencing issues logging on to the Schools’ Firefly portal, click the link for some simple troubleshooting steps. If you cant log in to your school email, you will need to contact the school to get your password reset. Click link for the number.
  • Wednesday 25 March 2020 6th Form Prom Cancelled The 6th Form Prom has been cancelled due to the situation with the Coronavirus. The Prom Committee have asked the school to hold on to the deposit money students have paid towards their tickets with a view to arranging a reunion event later in the year.

  • Monday 23 March 2020 What we know about Grading for GCSEs, A Levels and BTECs in 2020 As a school need to await guidance from the Department for Education and the examination bodies on how qaulifications will be awarded this year. Once the plans are fully in place, the staff here at BGGS will be providing all the necessary information to the exam boards so that all your qualifications can be awarded.   • Friday 20 March 2020 Class of 2020 Leavers Whilst is it goodbye to the #classof2020 at the end of the day, this is not being marked officially today: we will hold a farewell event including shirt-signing later in the year once the Cornavirus restrictions are lifted.

  • Thursday 19 March 2020 Coronavirus Update 04: Letter about closure, key workers & free meals As you will most likely be aware, schools across England have been ordered to close. The Prime Minster said in his press conference yesterday evening: ‘after schools shut their gates on Friday afternoon, they will remain closed for the vast majority of pupils until further notice.’ Click for information about what this means for you.
  • Thursday 19 March 2020 Refunds on trip payments (and dinner money) Students who are due to leave the school at the end of this academic year WILL get a refund on payments made for trips. Money loaded onto the cashless catering system will be refunded. Click to read more....
  • Thursday 19 March 2020 Additional print credit for students Now that we know schools are closing to most students on Friday, we have raised the print credit on every student's account by distributing a further £1,245 worth of print allowance across the BGGS student population (in addition to their normal weekly credit).   • Thursday 19 March 2020 Students need to check Firefly and email access We will be relying on Firefly and Office365 over the coming months and we strongly recommend that all students currently at home should try to access their emails and Firefly today to see if there are any difficulties.
